The UnPhilosophy (an UnManifesto)

The UnPhilosophy

"Un" is about approaching virtually anything in an "UnConventional" way.

"Un" is about throwing out the rules and doing things in the most optimal way, rather than simply doing what has "always" been done.

"Un" is about coming together as a community that values participation and contributing to an open, democratic, and inclusive platform.

"Un" provides participants with 'permission to fail' in an iterative pursuit of success; moreover, it provides the tools and resources so participants can fail as fast as possible.

"Un" is about hacking in its purest , unadulterated, original form.

UnMembership

Consider a playground.  Virtually everything required for play - slides, swings, bridges, tree forts, jungle gyms, etc - are provided as-is.  The rules of the playground are developed as the interactions progress; largely through social, meritocratic, and sometimes democratic phenomenon.  UnMembership to UnLondon works in a very similar way:

UnMembership rules are determined ad-hoc by the members of the organization through an established process that is as democratic as possible, while still being functional.

UnMembership provides access to framework for a philosophy that can be applied to virtually anything.  This application is referred to as a 'hack'

UnMembership supports its membership community with tools such as technology (wikis, blogs, etc.), best practices, artwork, etc.; Resources, such as access to space, a community of talented volunteers, ideas, equipment, expertise, etc.  It's important to note that while these resources are made available as part of the framework, UnLondon, nor its members are obligated to provide any of them.  One will get from the community that which they are prepared to give.

Check out our hacks or start your own!
